Getting to Venice by boat is definitely the most impressive but it is also the most expensive way.
The single ticket costs €7.50 each (I’m just speaking about public transportation – water buses).

From the Maritime Station – Port Terminal to Venice.
To reach Venice Piazzale Roma (starting point of Venice) from the Maritime Station / Port terminal you can use the People Mover.
The People Mover is a monorail train that connects the terminals of Piazzale Roma and Maritime station / Port. From Piazzale Roma you can reach the Rialto Bridge and San Marco square by water buses number 1 or number 2 with € 7.50 per trip (click here to view timetables and stops) or by foot (approximately 30 minutes for Rialto and 40 for Piazza San Marco)
The cost of the People Mover ticket is € 1.50. The journey takes about 4 minutes and there is a ride every 7 minutes. You can buy tickets online or on-site (ticket office and cash machine). From Punta Sabbioni to Venice
To reach Venice from Punta Sabbioni there are 3 different water buses (cost € 7.50):
– Number 12 water bus (duration about 90 minutes, one ride every 60 minutes – passes through the islands of Murano and Burano and arrives at “Fondamenta Nove” which is located in the North of Venice)
– Number 14 water bus (about 40 minutes, one ride every 30 minutes – passes through the island of Lido and arrives at San Marco square)
– Number 15 water bus (duration about 30 minutes, there are only 7 trips every 24h – direct from Punta Sabbioni to Piazza San Marco)
In summary, it is better to avoid the number 12 water bus, except if you have to go to the north of Venice island.

From Fusina to Venice
To reach Venice from Fusina it is available the water bus number 16 (duration of about 25 minutes, a ride every 60 minutes) with last stop in Zattere which is located in the South of Venice. You can easily reach San Marco square by foot. It will takes around 20 minutes. The cost of 1 ride € 7.50. Click here to view all the timetables from the official website. From Chioggia to Venice
To reach Venice from Chioggia, you can take the water bus number 11 (bus plus navigation service) or the direct seasonal water bus number 19 (which is currently suspended). Water bus number 11 will take you to the island of Lido. Then you will need to take the water bus number 1 to reach the island of Venice. It will cost € 7.50. In case you are in Chioggia and you want to reach Venice, I advise you to use the ATVO bus that takes you to Piazzale Roma (just summer service). This service is definitely more convenient, more frequent and faster. Click here to view the official website of the ATVO lines.
From Marco Polo Airport to Venice
You can reach Venice directly from Marco Polo airport with the boat called “Alilaguna” – you can take the blue or orange or red line according to the area where your hotel is located – BLUE line (San Marco, Lido, Murano), ARANCIO line (San Marco, Rialto), RED line (STAGIONAL ONLY – San Marco, Murano) – the ticket cost € 15.00 for Venice island and € 8.00 for Murano island – the duration depends on the stop where you get out in order to reach the Hotel more easily, anyway, reach San Marco Square takes about 1 hour – the timetables and all the stops of all lines can be found by clicking here
